I decided to pick up and read John Maynard Smith's The Theory of Evolution () to deepen my understanding of evultionary biology. My primary knowledge comes (mainly) from popular accounts of this field by the likes of Richard Dawkins and Carl Zimmer.4/5. This book unmasks the scientific communities death-grip on any information that may harm the false doctrine of evolution. Too bad that Darwin has already poisoned the minds of many with a theory that even he had difficulty believing in.4/5(4). Most of the major topics within evolutionary biology get a chapter devoted to them so the book serves as a good general introduction to the overall theory of evolution. It does not go in depth on any one topic but the reader will get a good general survey of the field. There are, in my opinion, two cons of the by: The Book of John. John - And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.. John - But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.. John in The New Testament - A Brief Overview.
His most famous book is The Selfish Gene because it lays out the gene-centred view of evolution, but it’s a bit of a tough slog. All the stuff you find in it you can also find in The Blind Watchmaker. A Spiritual Evolution is a story of transformation and growth — a journey from dogmatism and fear to freedom and love. With self-effacing humor and refreshing candor, John MacMurray examines the story of God he inherited from his “religious” family. John F. Haught has demonstrated that a modern "take" on an ancient and honorable theological pathway, that of natural theology, can assist greatly in thinking about God in an ecological and post-evolutionary world/5(26). In his book, The Source, John Clayton, promoter of the “Does God Exist?” program, wrote: “Ever since the first ideas about evolution appeared around B.C., men have viewed the subject as an adamantly opposed concept to the concept of a supreme being.
The Major Transitions in Evolution is a book written by John Maynard Smith and Eörs Szathmáry (Oxford University Press, ). At the time of its publication, Egbert Giles Leigh, Jr reviewing for Evolution commented that it "may be the most important book on evolution since [R.A.] Fisher 's () The Genetical Theory of Natural Selection ". In Relentless Evolution, John N. Thompson explores why adaptive evolution never ceases and why natural select At a glance, most species seem adapted to the environment in which they live. Yet species relentlessly evolve, and populations within species evolve in different ways/5. The Theory of Evolution is a book by English evolutionary biologist and geneticist John Maynard Smith, originally published in in time for th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the centenary of the publication of The Origin of Species the following year.
